Frequently Asked Questions
Semi-Permanent Make-Up
How Long Does it Take to Have a Treatment?
You will need to allow 1.5 hours for your first procedure. If you intend to have a "full face" (3 procedures together) then you should allow 3 hours in total.
How Long Does it Last?
This varies from client to client and depends on how well your skin retains the pigment. Semi-Permanent make-up is long-lasting and should last for several years. Over that time the colour will fade and break down. The darker the colour, such as black, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Light colours fade quicker than dark so the original choice of colour will also affect the intensity of retention.
Natural, delicate colours are often more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by the body.
As you become accustomed to your new makeup it’s not uncommon to want more. You will want to freshen up your new makeup every couple of years. We suggest that you come back to us for a ‘top up’ procedure every 18 months/2 years to keep the look complete and fresh.
Is it safe?
All the treatments and procedures are totally safe. The PRECISION PLUS system that I use is unique in the world of micropigmentation. It is the only brand certified for both COSMETIC and MEDICAL procedures. Designed in steel with a state-of-the-art hand piece, it delivers accuracy and precision. The needles used are sterile and individually packaged. These are chosen after the consultation and always opened in front of the customer. They are intended for one use only and are disposed of safely at the end of each treatment. All of my equipment is covered with disposable protective coverings which are also disposed of at the end of each customer session. I use are hypo-allergenic, pharmaceutical grade pigments which have been selected for their proven safety.
I really don’t like pain......does It Hurt to have Semi-Permanent Make-Up ?
Some clients feel no discomfort at all - others feel minimal discomfort. We use topical anesthetics which have been developed especially for semi-permanent eyeliner, eyebrows and lip colour procedures to control pain tolerance. These creams and gels are applied to the desired area before and during the procedure to assure you of the most comfortable experience possible.
Some people describe the sensation as a “tingling” feeling. Most people experience some discomfort, especially for lip colour procedures, but commonly we hear that there was not as much pain as was expected. For comparison there should be no more discomfort than say having your legs waxed or your eyebrows plucked.
Once the procedure is complete and the anaesthetic wears off, there may be some swelling (cool packs are very soothing to the area), but there should be no discomfort whatsoever.
How long does it take to recover? Will I Be Able to Go Out Without Everyone Noticing?
After a procedure the area treated will be darker, more intense. This will last for a few days until the area exfoliates and the true colour emerges. Generally it is only you who notices the darker colour. If anaesthetic is used you may swell slightly - this will go down usually by the end of the day.
What About After Care?
You will be given a comprehensive after care guide after the treatment, along with verbal instructions.
Can I remove my Semi-Permanent Make-up if I change my mind?
Semi-Permanent Make-up is a long-term procedure. Although it will fade in time due to both the pigments used and how far the colour is implanted into the dermis, in the short term, Laser surgery is required to remove pigment.
Because it’s easy to add colour and difficult to take away, we will always be conservative in the initial application of your new colour. Take advantage of the consultation to discuss your wants and needs. It’s also a time where we choose the right colours and discuss any special requests you may have. Your cooperation will largely determine the end result of your procedures. Remember it is a team effort.
Your investment in permanent makeup saves you time and money in the long run.
Remember that Rome was not built in a day and that permanent cosmetics may take several sessions of layering in colour to achieve your desired result. A conservative approach is best as it is possible to add MORE colour but it is not easy to remove colour.
Tattoo Removal
How do you do the treatment?
The tattoo remover is applied in a
similar manner to having a tattoo or semi-permanent make up and
utilises the same equipment. When implanted, the remover attaches
itself to the ink in your skin.
How does the treatment work?
The
natural healing processes of the body push out the bonded substance
including the tattoo ink. A crust containing the tattoo ink will form
over the treated area, over a couple of weeks as the skin heals it will
push more of the unwanted ink out. The crust will start to naturally
fall away taking that unwanted tattoo ink with it. In most cases some
secondary crusting will occur, again containing more tattoo ink. The
treated area must be kept dry after treatment and while the crust is on
the skin.
What happens following treatment?
The remover
helps to push the ink to the surface of the skin, but not all comes
away with the crust and will fade as the skin sheds naturally over a
period of time. Also older tattoos become dull because the body
protects itself from the foreign ink particles by coating them in
cells. The removal process can disturb these cells and therefore make
the ink look more prominent.
Following completion of your
treatments, the treated area may be slightly raised and show redness.
This is completely normal and should subside over a period of months.
How many treatments are needed?
There
are many factors that can effect the tattoo removal treatment, but
generally most tattoos can be completely removed in just three to four
treatments, although some older tattoos may require more.* For
comparison, 1 treatment of e-raze is equivalent to about 6 laser
treatments.
* Actual number of treatments required can vary
depending on your individual circumstances and condition of original
tattoo, complete removal cannot be guaranteed.
Will I scar?
Tattoos
are not designed to be removed so there are potential risks with any
removal treatment. The tattoo itself may already have some scar tissue
which is not always evident until the ink has been removed. Scarring
can also occur where the aftercare instructions are not adhered to or
where your general state of health and/or diet is poor. The risk of
scarring is minimal if you did not suffer any complications when the
tattoo was originally applied, do not suffer from hypertrophic or
keloid scarring and the treated area is cared for properly.
Incidents
of scarring from the e-raze treatment are extremely low and will not
cause long term skin texture or pigment changes like laser can. Also
Skin Deep Confidence offers scar reduction treatment!
Can I buy the cream and treat myself?
This
treatment is only available from trained specialists and is not a home
applied treatment to fade your tattoo, a skin coloured cover up tattoo,
an acid or bleach based fading treatment or a medical or surgical
treatment.
The cream is not available to purchase by the general public and is only available to trained professionals.
